Kenneth William Borah passed away on March 1, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born on December 25, 1929 to Benjamin and Erma (Gause) Borah on the homestead farm near Oldham, South Dakota.Upon the death of his father, Ken took on the responsibility of the family farm which he continued working until the age of 81. He was a man of many talents. He worked tirelessly in the field to grow corn, grain, and soy beans and could fix any machine when it broke down. He owned cattle, pigs, chickens, ducks, pheasants but did not like horses.
On December 23, 1957 he married Dorothy Larsen and began their life together on the farm. Throughout their 60 years of marriage, their love for each other added two daughters to their family, Debbie and Karen. His greatest love was Jesus Christ and his family. He was an active member of Oldham Baptist Church.
To escape the cold weather, Ken and Dorothy started to split their time between South Dakota and south Texas in 1976. For over 40 years, they enjoyed their time in the Rio Grande Valley as Winter Texans in Weslaco, Texas. They had many friends there and participated in bowling and golfing teams. He also served his neighbors by being their resident “handyman”.
Travel was a big part of Ken’s life. He could never stay in one place too long. They traveled to Australia, Brazil, Africa, Switzerland, Panama, Alaska, Hawaii, and all over the United States. Since he enjoyed spending time with his family the most, he included them on some of their adventures.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Craig) Timm of Rapid City, SD, Karen (Thomas) Runyan of McKinney, TX, grandchildren, Taylor (Noah) Daily of Round Rock, TX, Ben Runyan of McKinney, TX, great grandchild, Lydia Daily, brother, Les (Susan) Borah of Dolan, SD.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life Dorothy, parents Ben and Erma, brothers, Clayton (Shirley) Borah, Milton (Genine) Borah and sister, Leona (Walt) Neilson.
