Jean C. Smith

Jean Smith, of Watertown, SD, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness.  Jean was born on September 18, 1946, in Lincoln, NE, to Lloyd and Alice (Ries) Murphy.  Jean grew up in Watertown, SD, where she attended I.C. School for nine years, and was a 1964 graduate of Watertown High School. 

Jean moved to Mound, MN, shortly after graduating, where she met the love of her life, Warren “Bud” Smith.  They were married on August 13, 1976.  Jean had several jobs over the years, but her favorite one was being a mother to her son, Charlie.

Jean’s favorite pastime was being a hockey mom, watching her son practice, and never missing a game.  She enjoyed golfing, and getting together with her friends in golf league after retirement.

Jean is survived by her husband, Warren “Bud” Smith, of Watertown; her son, Charles Smith, of South Lake Tahoe, CA; sister, Mary Murphy, of Chaska, MN; brothers: William Murphy, and John (Lori) Murphy, both of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dennis (Rosemary) Murphy, of Watertown, SD; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Carol Lepora, of Bloomington, MN, and nieces: Kelly Manz, of Branden, OR,  Angy Murphy, of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jessica Bland, of Custer, SD.

A memorial service is planned at a later date.
