Gerald "Jerry" Byrd

Gerald “Jerry” Byrd, age 57, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022, at his residence.  Memorial services are pending.

Jerry was born on April 23, 1965, in Hawthorne, CA, to Joseph and Patricia (Konrady) Byrd.  He attended school in Hawthorne and graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1983.  Following graduation, he worked for Honda.  He started racing motorcycles in the desert, earning several first place awards.

On July 17, 1998, Jerry married Amaline “Amy” Escotto at Derby Downs in Watertown.  He installed flooring for Duane’s Floor Covering in Watertown.

Jerry loved football and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.  He enjoyed fishing and made his own ice fishing shack.  Jerry was a jack of all trades, very smart and talented.  He was the life of the party and loved hosting his family for BBQ’s. 

Jerry is survived by his wife, Amaline “Amy” of Watertown; daughters: Kalina Byrd of Watertown, Briana Byrd of Las Vegas, NV, and Amanda Gonzalez; son, Jace Escotto; grandchildren: Keilani, Kaylee, Christian, Brody, and Evan; mother, Patricia Byrd; sister, Helen Byrd of Hawthorne, CA; and nephews: Andrew Byrd and Tyler Weber.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Byrd.
