Gene Ratigan Obituary
Gene Ratigan, age 71, of Badger, SD, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Hennepin County Medical Center. Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Crawford Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield, SD at a later date.
Gene was born on January 24, 1952, in Redfield, SD, to Maurice and Mildred (Marlow) Ratigan. He attended Redfield High School in South Dakota and enrolled at Watertown Vo Tech for Automotive. He then started his Law Enforcement career in Spink County as the Deputy Sheriff and in 1982 started with the South Dakota Highway Patrol. He retired from the Highway Patrol in 2000. After his retirement from the Highway Patrol, Gene enjoyed trucking over the road with K&J Trucking and fishing.
Gene is survived by his two sons, Mike (Alli) Ratigan, Mitchell, SD and Jeff (Chantel) Ratigan, Volga, SD; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary Ratigan and sister-in-law Kathy Ratigan.
