At the age of 87, The Lord called Darlene Jurgens home, on April 4, 2026 at the local hospital. She was widow of Richard Jurgens. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at St. Martins Lutheran Church in
Watertown. The funeral service will be live-streamed and recorded on our website.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Jordan Feyerisen, Jackson Feyerisen, Hunter Kauffman, Katrina Kauffman, and Kassi Kauffman. Active pallbearers will be Richard Adolphsen, Tony Adolphsen, Arlyn Adolphsen, Mike Jergens, Alan Jurgens, and James Ysbrand.
Darlene (Adolphsen) Jurgens was born on October 19, 1938, on a farm near South Shore in Germantown Township, to Otto and Goldie (Kannas) Adolphsen. Darlene attended grade school at Mayflower Dist-23 in Germantown Township and high school in Watertown SD with the class of 1957. Darlene moved to Sioux Falls after schooling, and worked at the school for the deaf.
Darlene met Richard Jurgens 1958 in Watertown SD. They got married June 25, 1961 in St. Luke’s Church in Germantown Township. Richard passed away July 20, 2018. To this marriage they had 3 children, Sheila Feyerisen, Sherman Jurgens, and Sherise (Shannon) Kauffman.
Darlene had a day care in her home for 35 yrs. She raised her family with the day care children and loved every moment of it.
She loved sewing, embroidery, camping, playing cards, going dancing with herhusband with family & going on trips also. She loved gardening with her flowers. Darlene is survived by her children, Sheila Feyerisen, of Castlewood, SD, Sherman Jurgens, of Irene, SD, and Sherise (Shannon) Kauffman, of Madison, SD; grandchildren, Jordan (Mackenzie) Feyerisen, Jackson (fiancé Karlie Paiement), Hunter (Destiny) Kauffman, Katrina Kauffman, and Cassi Kauffman; six great- grandchildren; and one sister, Jeanette Searcy, of Twin Brooks, SD.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; infant daughter, Nadene; four brothers; one sister; one grandson, Spencer Feyerisen; and one granddaughter, Katie Feyerisen.
