Arnold “Arnie” V. Mondloch, age 79, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, at his residence. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Watertown. Father John Fischer will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Jane Rokusek as organist with Blaine Martian as song leader. The family is requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 10:00 a.m.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. and prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown and Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard. Honorary pallbearer will be Justin Mondloch. Active pallbearers will be; Edwin Mondloch, Brent Jensen, David Whitten, and Wayne Sell.
Arnie was born on September 14, 1941, in Watertown, to Edwin and Katherine (Wilcox) Mondloch. He attended Watertown High School, received his GED, and earned a degree in baking in Minneapolis, MN. He also enlisted in the U.S Army.
In 1964, Arnie was united in marriage with Bernice Shults in Watertown. They lived in Elgin, IL, before moving to Chicago, IL, where he was employed by Ludwig Drums. After returning to Watertown, he worked at Davey’s Furniture and later Unclaimed Freight for over 40 years. Arnie retired and continued to make his home in Watertown. Arnie enjoyed walking, riding his bicycle, doing woodworking, car shows and old cars.
Arnie is survived by his children; Edwin Mondloch, Charles Mondloch, and Dawn Rolla, all of Watertown, SD, and Fern Flores of Bryant, TX; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister; Kay Welch of Minneapolis, MN.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Robert, Richard, and John.
