Ardell Jorgenson Obituary

Ardell K. Jorgenson, age 92, of Watertown, SD passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at her residence.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, at First United Methodist Church in Watertown.  Rev. Jen Tyler will officiate.  The family is requested to meet at the church on Monday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. 

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Monday.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Hospice Nurses, Water Aerobics Ladies and Thursday Morning Bible Study Group. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Jorgenson, Bryce Jorgenson, Malachi Jorgenson, Quinten Jorgenson, Eric Jorgenson, Cole Jorgenson, Tana Jorgenson and Jenna Jorgenson.

Ardell Kathleen (Zaiser) Jorgenson was born September 28, 1931, on a farm near Mondamin, IA, to Gerhard and Alice Zaiser. When she was in 3rd grade, the family moved to Missouri Valley, IA. After graduating from high school, she moved to Omaha, NE, and worked at Mutual of Omaha.

On April 6, 1952, she married Dale Jorgenson and moved to Watertown, SD. She lived in Watertown except for two years when Dale was in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, TX. Ardell worked at Midland National Life Insurance Co., Koehn Manufacturing Co., and as a contract employee at Western Area Power Administration Co. She worked at WAPA for 29 years and retired at age 79.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Foley Garden Club.

Ardell is survived by her sons, Terry (Sherry) and Kelly (Shirley); six grandchildren: Tana (Tyler), Tyler (Rebecca), Bryce (Kathryn), Eric (Catherine), Cole, and Jenna; six great-grandchildren: Malachi, Quinten, Maximus, Leo, Cora, and Weston; sibling, Joanne (Lary) Gaver of Sebring, FL; sister-in-law, Barbara Jorgenson of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Fonton Fenhaus of FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; sons, Kent and Keith; parents, Gerhard and Alice; siblings: Frances Coleman, Fred Zaiser, and Elaine Waterhouse.
