Allan D. Jones

Allan D. Jones, age 76, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.  Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m.  on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.  Jodi Engels will lead the service.  The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Tuesday by 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service.

Allan was born on November 20, 1945, in Beadle County, SD, to Glen and Myrna (Howland) Jones.  He grew up on a farm near Lake Preston, SD.  

He met his future wife, Wanda Hayes at a wedding dance.  They moved to Redfield, SD, where they were united in marriage on January 25, 1969. Allan was employed by the Chrysler Dealership as a mechanic, before relocating to Pheasant City, SD, to manage a restaurant and mechanic shop.  He drove bus and managed the bus garage for many years in Doland, SD.  Allan also owned his own construction business.  In their retirement years, they moved to Watertown, SD.

Allan enjoyed fixing cars, and racing them in his younger years.  He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish.  His greatest love was spending time with his family.

Allan is survived by two daughters, Tracy (Devon) Nogelmeier, of Watertown, SD, and Teresa Jones, of Sioux Falls, SD; his grandchildren: Tylar Cole, Paige (Nogelmeier) Lacher, and Samantha Nogelmeier; great-grandson Jayson Cole; two sisters, Phyllis Camin, of Naper, NE, and Arlo McElroy, of Belle Plaine, IA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; his parents; and one brother, Richard “Buzz”.
